Carpet Cleaning Lakeland Fl: Choosing Carpets For High Traffic Areas
Most homeowners know that high traffic areas of their home require carpets that can withstand high traffic…it’s common sense. What most homeowners don’t know, however, is what types of carpet these more durable options are. So, today we want to give you a quick lesson in what carpet materials are best suited to hallways, living rooms, playrooms, and even bedrooms!
Tile and Stone
Yes, we know these aren’t carpet, but they are the best choice for entryways and main entry hallways of any home simply due to the amount of moisture that gets tracked in through the main entrances of the house. Just be sure to get them sealed to keep them looking great for a long time to come.
One of our top picks for areas that have high traffic and a high potential for spills (like playrooms and living rooms) is nylon carpet. Nylon carpets are easy to clean and can be made to be stain resistant which is great for a playroom considering the paint, chalk, markers, and even snacks that will go in and out of the room on a regular basis. It is important to know, however, that nylon does not stand up well to sun exposure, so we don’t recommend it for playrooms with a lot of windows or sunrooms turned playrooms.
Polyester carpet is more of a moderate traffic kind of carpet because it can pill with higher traffic, so it’s better for a room like the master bedroom. Polyester stands up well to water-soluble stains and it does well with sun exposure. If you do choose this type of carpet for a master bedroom, go with a denser fiber so it has better crush resistance.
Olefin carpet is a cheap carpet that’s exceptionally easy to keep clean and it stands up very well to abrasive things. Olefin does not stand up well to heat and is not particularly crush-resistant, but it does do well with areas like basements and covered porches. Olefin carpets are not as soft or plush as other types of carpet so they’re aren’t preferred for main rooms of the home, but they’re great for larger areas that need affordable coverage.
